Matt Mossman

Matt Mossman

President

Matt joined Blowcomotion in the summer of 2019 as a lapsed trombone player who hadn’t looked at a piece of sheet music in about 15 years.

Over time, playing with Blowcomotion helped him rebuild his musical chops and gain new knowledge and confidence on his instrument, eventually taking solos and even conducting the band.

In his current roles as Blowcomotion’s board president and bandleader, Matt uses many skills he learned while working and volunteering at other nonprofit organizations, such as volunteer management, fundraising and development, public speaking, and communications.

Matt has served on the board since 2020 and is currently serving his fourth term as Board President. Beyond Blowcomotion, he is an active member of the Austin music community, performing with Minor Mishap Marching Band, Off Hand Brass Band, his own band Great Howl, and in other sporadic projects.

Bev Larkin at Honk!TX 2023

Bev Larkin

Vice President, Fundraising Committee Co-Chair, Merchandise Coordinator

After relocating from Corpus Christi to Austin in 2014, this Texas native has always had a passion for live music, particularly brass and drums, having played and marched in middle and high school.

Upon reading an article in the Austin Chronicle about the Honk!TX 2015 festival, she decided to attend Honk!TX 2016 on a Saturday, and was blown away by the incredible festival and bands!

The following year, she attended all three days and felt a strong desire to immerse herself in the vibe and excitement of making music, despite not having played percussion in over (*cough*) 40 years.

In 2018, when Blowcomotion was announced, Bev eagerly joined, persevering through the challenging Covid/Zoom years and truly relishing the opportunity to regain her skills and perform with such a great music community.

Bev became a Board member in 2021 and has served as Vice President since 2023, where she manages the merchandise booth and co-chairs the Fundraising Committee. She enjoys creating new items, posters, and graphics for the band. Additionally, Bev has been an active member of the Honk!TX Festival Committee since 2022.

Nick Pereira

Board Member - Blowcomotion Website Programmer

In 2021, Nick became a part of Blowcomotion playing French Horn after spending lots of time indoors the year before.

Nick is originally a Florida man, but he has lived in Austin since 2012, when he moved for college. He also plays in several Austin band besides Blowcomotion. He plays French Horn in Dead Music Capital Band, World Gone Mad, and Off Hand Brass Band. Nick also plays steel drum (lead and bass), and drumset at Inside Out Steelband along with his wife, Barby (who plays double seconds).

In October 2024, Blowcomotion made a trip to Summerville, MA, the home of the HONK! festivals - Nick and Barby journeyed cross-country, camping along the way. During the festival, Barby took stunning photos throughout the entire weekend, many of which are seen throughout this website!

Nick Pereira joined the Blowcomotion board in May 2024. He has helped facilitate the transition to this new Blowco website! If you need help with your website, you can reach Nick at Capital City Code

Blowcomotion at Honk 2025

Matt “TinCan” Coldwell

Board Member

I moved to Austin as an adult in 1976.  I have been a supporter of community arts and other local organizations like the Travis County Volunteer Opera Society, Eeyore’s, Big Medium, HonkTX, Bouldin Creek N.A. and now, as a board member of Blowcomotion.

I’m a percussionist and build my own metal instruments. Blowcomotion has given me opportunities to play like no other band in the world.

Jeff Conner

Board Member

I joined Blowcomotion in 2023 at the suggestion from a friend who was in Yes Ma'am Brass Band at the time. Before things shut down in early 2020, I played in many bands, mostly rock, some original some tributes. I've been playing since the 80's.

I'm also a special needs dog foster, an avid hiker, home cook, and amateur UltraMarathon Race Support Staff Leader.

Playing with the band and the support from my band mates through some trying times has provided me with continued inspiration and joy. I've been in a lot of bands, Blowcomotion is absolutely my favorite. I asked to join the board in May 2025 because of the significant positive effect on my happiness.
